Name:  Guy Caron
Address:  238 Elm Street, Goffstown, NH 03045
Phone number:  (603) 497-3533
Occupation:  Operational Analyst, U.S. Department Of Defense

Previous political or volunteer service:  Current Vice-Chairman, Goffstown Budget Committee

Family and personal information:  Married 18 years to my lovely wife Rebecca

How long lived in town:  My family has had a presence in Goffstown since 1948. I grew up spending my summers in Goffstown at my family's summer home. My wife and I settled here permanently in 2004.

Are you an incumbent?: Yes

Question 1: Why are you running?
Three years ago, I ran for Budget Committee because I was astounded at what I viewed as wasteful, entitlement-minded spending, and I believed I could make a difference if elected. Since that time, I believe I have indeed made a difference, and will continue to do my very best to represent the will of the voters if re-elected on March 13th.

Question 2: What are your priorities when looking at a town or school budget?
My first priority is to act as an advocate for the taxpayers. It is what I was elected to do, what I believe I have done for the past three years, and what I hope to continue to do if re-elected. There is no room for personal agendas on a Budget Committee. As an elected member of the Budget Committee, my responsibility is to develop operating budgets that balance the needs of the community vs. "affordability as seen through the eyes of the taxpayers" who have elected me to represent them in the budgeting process.

Question 3: How will you balance the needs of the town and school vs. the need to keep taxes down?
There is a big difference between "needs" and "nice-to-haves". The challenge is identifying which is which. A person can go from Point "A" to Point "B" in a Toyota just as easily as he or she can in a Ferrari. Unfortunately, our budgets continue to be laden with Ferraris. As such, when representing the people who pay for all of this, my responsibility is to identify the Ferraris and eliminate them from the budgets.
